Able Steel and Metalwork, with more than 35 years’ experience in the steel and metal industry we are well placed to provide a professional, effective and personal service to the construction industry and residential sectors. We work throughout Newbury, Berkshire and the South of England.
Our role as principal manufacturer of structural steel and architectural metalwork, means Able is a partner of choice to many prestigious developers.
Not only do we cater to large corporations and small businesses, we also offer our residential customers a wide range of metal work for the home and garden. Some of which include balconies, staircases, security grilles and railings.

We are members of many professional bodies which include Builders Profile, Construction Line, SMAS Worksafe (Safety Management Advisory Services) and Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) demonstrating our commitment to health, safety and training.
All our contracts are planned in accordance with the relevant health and safety legislations, our projects have method statements and risk assessments carried out prior to installation. Our operatives are CSCS certified; many have Slinger, Banksman, Lift Supervisor and IPAF certification.

Able Steelwork and Metalwork worked on a refurbishment project featured on channel 4’s TV program The Restoration Man.
The scheme involved converting a 1930s-pumping station in Berkshire into a modern four-bed home.
We manufactured and installed new steel beams to the property plus we designed and installed a metal internal staircase and balustrade.
CERTIFICATION OF CE MARKING
Able Steelwork and Metalwork are delighted to announce and verify that we have achieved our CE marking and are now certified to BS EN 1090-1: 2009 + A1:2011, execution of steel structures: Up to and including Execution Class 2 according to BS EN 1090-2:2008 +A1 :2011.
The CE marking is the manufacturer's statement that the product meets the requirements of the applicable EC directives. "CE" is an abbreviation of Conformité Européenne, meaning European Conformity. Essentially, this means that we comply with all the legislation in respect to the CE marking of structural steel products for sale in the EU construction market.
CE marking became mandatory for fabricated structural steelwork on 1st July 2014. The stipulations place a legal duty on Able Steelwork and Metalwork to ensure that the structural steel products and components manufactured by us abide with the European single market directives and regulations.
Gaining the certification means that we are able to manufacture structural steel products that require CE marking. This represents a major development for Able Steelwork and Metalwork and we are very proud to have achieved this accreditation.
